Important Information About Our Services

  • Check out these nine tops to make your appointment go smoothly, and learn how to prepare before your appointment:

    1. HYDRATE - Stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids before your dermaplaning session. However, it’s unnecessary to drink during the procedure since dermaplaning is so gentle and painless (most people barley feel anything); staying well-hydrated before and after can prevent post-procedure swelling or discomfort.

    2. INSPECT FOR WOUNDS - Dermaplaning works by a professional who holds a small and sterile blade at an angle to lift off dead skin cells and vellus (peach fuzz) hair. It is important that the skin is healthy before treatment and that there are no woulds/sores on the face, as the procedure could compromise the healing process. Always ensure all cuts and fully healed before scheduling your dermaplaning appointment.

    3. HIDE YOUR EXFOLIANTS - Suppose your face is clear of any cuts, and your pushing on with your appointment. In that case, the next best thing to do is hide away any exfoliation products and treatmnets at home. It’s suggested to rest about five days before heading to the dermaplaining appointment. Before receiveing a maximum exfoliation service, you must allow your skin cells to regenerate. Acne breakouts, hyper/hypopagmentation, redness, and dry skin can be caused by over-exfoliation. It can be a little difficult, but think about how smooth your face will be after the treatment. It removes oil and dirt from soft facial hair. Enhances the effects of other skincare treatments.

    4. SWITCH UP YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE - You should also avoid using products with retinol, as this can cause the skin to become flaky and potentially irritated if you’re doing so before your appointment. This is solely for those with sensitive skin. If not, you can make routine changes before your appointment.

    5. ADD AN ANTIBACTERIAL SKINCARE PRODUCT - If you’re considering dermaplaning, adding an antibacterial skincare product is another of the best ways to prepare. This can help kill off the bacteria that may cause infection (or irritate it) if there are open wounds.

    6. STAY AWAY FROM THE SUN - if you’re going to your appointment, don’t forget sun protection!@ Dead skin cells and hair removal can cause your skin to become more sensitive than usual. This means you should avoid direct sun exposure and always sue sunscreen when going out! Sun exposure is frowned upon because of the spots it can leave on your complexion and the potential effects caused by the UV rays hitting your skin. However, dermaplaning patients should take even better care to avoid the sun. The face is one area that is most likely to sunburn and damage. Wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30 when you go outside during the day because UV exposure will interfere with the results of your treatment. Sun exposure can also lead to heightened skin sensitivity, incfreasing the likelihood of irritation and redness. It wouldn’t be ideal for treating the skin if it was like that.

    7. GUYS - DO NOT SHAVE BEFORE YOUR DERMAPLANING APPOINTMENT - One of the worst ways to prepare for dermaplaning is shaving prior, which isn’t recommended. You should avoid it, as irritation and razor bumps may occur if you do so. The balde helps remove unwanted dead skin cells and facial hair (which can appear thick), so shaving before can cause unevenness.

    8. USE HYLURONIC ACID AFTER DERMAPLANING FOR HYDRATED SKIN - After your dermaplaning appointment, your skin may feel smoother and softer, but it can also be more sensitive and susceptible to dryness. To counteract this, we recommend applying a hyaluronic acid serum to your skin immediately after the procedure. Hyaluronic acid is a powerful humectant that helps to attract and retain moisture in the skin. By applying a hyaluronic acid serum after dermaplaning, you can help to replenish your skin’s moisture barrier, leaving it feeling hydrated and supple. Make sure to choose a high-quality hyaluronic acid serum and follow the instructions on how to apply it correctly. Additionally, avoid using any harsh or irritating skincare products for at least 24 hours after your dermaplaning appointment to avoid further irritation. By following this tip, you can ensure that your skin remains hydrated and healthy after your dermaplaning appointment, giving you the best results possible.

    9. RESCHEDULE OTHER APPOINTMENTS - Lastly, it’s time to reorganize your appointments to prioritise dermaplaning. For one, if you plan on getting any aesthetic procedure, such as fillers or Botox, it is always best to wait at least two weeks before or after your dermaplaning appointment before considering any injectables. This also applies to facials, skin peels and ohter procedures, such as overloading the skin after a manual exfoliation, which could compromise both results and the healing procedure. Dermaplaning is a painless and non-invasive procedure that requires very little recovery time. To ensure that the maximum benefits of the process are experienced, patients must prepare two weeks before the procedure.

CONCLUSION - It should’t be too difficult to recount what you should do to prepare for uyour dermaplaning appointment. Remember to take care of your face a little before the appointment so it’s at its best wehn all the hair and deadskin cells are removed Dermaplaning is a great way to improve the appearance of your skin, as it can remove up to five layers of dead cells from its surface. To be effective, you must remove all those dead cells before going under the blade. You also want your face completely hydrated and constantly moisturized so that dermaplaining does not cause irritation or discomfort during treatment.

  • Avoid any skin care product that contains harsh chemicals meant to exfoliate. Avoid anything that's scented, and don't use glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). Retinol and vitamin C serum should be avoided for at least the first 48 hours after microneedling.

Keep your skin clean before needling, avoid using lotion or make-up, and clean your face in-office if feasible. Inform your doctor of any adjustments you've made that may have an impact on microneedling. 45 minutes before the surgery, your doctor will apply topical anesthetics to your face.
